“Emerald and Stone” is filmmaker Thomas Blanchard’s tribute to the music of Brian Eno. The brief movie is made, as Blanchard places it, with “inks and portray,” however I think there’s some oil in there, too, to coat the droplets we see. A lot of the motion is probably going pushed by floor rigidity variations within the background fluid. I like the impact this has on the droplets. In case you watch carefully, a few of them seem to rotate like a miniature planet; others have counter-rotating sections throughout the drop. The distinction, I think, is one in every of scale: I feel the smaller drops rotate altogether whereas bigger ones develop extra advanced inside flows. (Video and picture credit score: T. Blanchard)
